50-150 Sigma 2.8 just arrived

What a lens, it's everything Chris has said about it and some.

Apologies for the terrible photo quality!

I'll get some samples up later, going for a walk now in this lovely winter sun!

It's actually not that heavy surprisingly, and without the hood it's really quite compact.

LOL! Look at the size of it!

Looking forward to some sample pics.

It's tiny, especially considering it's packing 100mm of constant f2.8. Not much bigger than a normal 70-300 f4-5.6 zoom lens.

Stunning quality, probably one of the first lens to really take advantage of digital, in so much as it's built completely from the ground up for crop sensors and is much much smaller than what it actually replaces (basically the focal length that old school shooters got with a 70-200 2.8)

Looking forward to your piccies anyhow Ben, so useful as a walkabout lens...

I just hope you get used to the minimum focus distance, I'm assuming you have version 2, which is better in that respect than my version 1, but still not great.

Yeah, it's the version 2. I was on the look out today for squirrels, but not to be found.

A few quick samples, just took a few while the mrs was having her hair cut. I absolutely love this lens! It's incredible, this is probably because I have only every really used the kit lens for this focal length, and it's head above the kit lens - don't let that take anything away from how good this lens is though.

Using this lens today really make me appreciate the D40 too, I'm glad I have decided to keep it and spend the money on glass only downside is low light, but in day light it's amazing.

These was taken in Darley Dale.
