6 Disc Changer Question

My mum has giving me the rights to her 6 Disc changer under the passenger seat in her 04 Clio Paris. What problems am i going to have removing it and fitting it into my bog standerd 1.2 (52 reg)?.

My dad works at Gaydon from Landrover and does all the electrics so wires wont be a problem, its just where to conected them and where to run them through/behind in my clio.

Any advice would be great

should fit straight in and work of the steering remote too, just make sure you get the sire which connects the unit to the stereo, its worth £80 and you cant do much without it.

Dead easy to do but its very annoying.

To remove the cd changer undo the bolt at the back ie the cradle youll probaly need a normal screwdriver to do it.

Then get mad trying to remove it it does come not entirly sure how I got it in.

The pull the carpet up and pull the wire out it should be quite long dont go and cut it it will be easier but renders the cable almost usless as you cannot solder it up easy.

Remove the radio using 4 small screwdrivers shoved about 2 inches down the 4 holes on it (you need to push them a fair way the inital resistance is the clip and its sort of can be pulled out using the screwdrivers far enough the take the screw drivers out and pull it out with your hands).

Then find the correct cable (I forget which it is) and unplug it and replace the radio. If you dont have small enough screw drivers get a coat hander and cut it into sections. Ive used the ink bit in all point pens before to remove it but its difficult.

Im doing this in sections an my pc keeps crashing in the heat and Im not loosing all this.

Remove the cd player on your car using the screwdrivers again.

Then pull the gear leave cover bit back from around the passenger foot well and feed the cable up though there to the cd player.

Then get a coat hanger and make it into a long straight wire and tape the end of the cd changer cable to it and use this to push the cable under the carpet (helps if you lift the carpet up. Then pull the wire up though one of the holes under the passenger seat.

Put the cd changer in and screw it down firmly. Connect the cable up and it should all work.

Just make sure the cd changer works before you fit it.

Also if it doesnt work first time make sure you have the radio code (usually in the owners service book on the inside of the front cover) and unplug the cd player for 20 seconds to wipe its memory (it wont forget your radio stations) then check the cd changer wired up and turn the unit back on enter the code (youll work out how you use the head unit or the remote to do it) and it should work then.
