65DCI vs 182 insurance

  Clio 182 arctic
Can someone please explain to me why a dci 65 is more expensive to insure than my 182.

I was looking to change to benefit from the cheaper running costs aswell as not using my 182 for what it was intended anymore.
I probably still will in a few months as the tax is only £30 and overall cheaper. But why is it more expensive? I can't work it out, No details will change except the car.

If you are on a specialist insurance policy that prefers modified/performance cars you sometimes find that the underwriters arent keen to cover standard cars.

Have you thought about modifying the DCI and thus fitting the specialist criteria?

It shouldn't be, unless an insurer has gone under the market rate to insure your 182, often insurers will pop up and undercut the rest of the market in a desperate bid to secure the business. Shop around.

Lol at this thread, what have you done to get a DCI quote greater than a 182!

I think perhaps the insurance has just sky rocketed in my area.
Just messing about with dummy quotes on-line and I can't even find a renewal price for less than £100 more for my current car. That's with quoting an extra years no claims aswell.
Has having the car 4years got anything to do with cost vs a new unfamiliar car?

My dCi 100 is only £100 less to insure than the 182 with modifications.

Bizarre really. Plus I've only owned the 182 for 4 months and had the dCi for 3+ years.
