76k high ?

  TTRS & V50
Ive found a monaco blue 51reg 172 with 76k

should i be worried this is too high and its going to depreiciate a lot ?

thinking of keeping it for about 3 years doning about 30k over those 3 years.

when i come to sell surely it wont be worth a penny ?

it has frsh to add to that

what would you say its worth...guestimate or what you would pay.

thanks

Its around average mileage for age.

Lol at christians value, its worth just under £3.5k part ex, so to buy probably £4-4.5k?

depend, tends to be ragged i suppose, that is a lot of milage imo, no others with less milage?

Mileage aint to bad, got to see what the service work has been like, belts changed etc.
So long as its been looked after you shouldn't have to worry, there are 172's on here over 100k and they are still going strong:)

TBH Id do it for the right money IF the right things like timing belt have been done recently enough. If it has new brakes, driveshafts etc etc then you may find someone has just spent a fortune on and then got rid.

The trick is defo finding the ones that have had the money spent on them before selling rather than being sold prior to the money needing spent!

76k aint too bad, the engine will do double that if warmed up before being booted

+1.

If its had a fair amount of TLC, I'd rather pick a high miler than one at circa 50k with a patchy history at best.

i would wait and wait, but ive sold my car as of last week, so cant really wait around.

i know i do always ask about sh, and i never buy if it doesnt have fsh, and i try and see if they have been done on time etc.

  Monaco Blue 172
for insurance i valued my 02 plate around 4k with 80k miles, not that it made any difference to the premium of course!

i've only had the car for 2 years, and put 60k miles on it. I paid 6.5k.

you do the math ;)

tbh i don't expect 172s to hold their value that well once they get to a certain age & mileage. i'm afraid on your budget you either have to accept that or look at something else (imo)

end of the day the only way to ensure ur car holds its value, is not to drive it! and where's the fun in that ;)

I bought my 51reg Monaco with 72k and full service history including recent cambelt for £4k back in May.

The mileage was not an issue for me considering people average 12k a year these days.

The book price for it was about £4.5k so i felt like i got a bargain

Depends how it got to that mileage, general wear and tear will tell you how the car got there!

How many owners etc

it has average mileage for its age (10k pa) and you're only proposing putting average mileage on it whilst you run it, so don't see a problem providing it's a problem free (?!) car and you don't pay over the odds for it. whatever you run will depreciate.
