Ok so my car is running on 2!! All started about a month ago when it started getting cold, although it cleared itself after a little drive. Now though its constantly running on 1 & 2, doesn't start at all with these 2 leads unplugged from the coilpack. As a first port of call ive replaced the plugs, leads & coilpack for new parts hoping that would fix it but the same problem still occurs :(

Anyone had this before? Looking to take it to a garage next week but wanted to have a word on here first.

Yeh was thinking this but if its loosing compression would it randomly start firing and working 100%!?

Swapping injectors is an easy thing to do to eliminate them being at problem. Swap the a good with a bad, see if the problem moves.

Do these just pull out? I had a little look at them earlier but was unsure how they were removed.

ECU repair, but you say it's running on cylinder 1 and 2, which is odd because 1&4 are a pair and 2&3 are a pair...

Thats definitely the case though, took the leads off 1 & 2 and it doesn't start. Hmmmm....

Its dead easy.

Fuel rail guard off
Disconnect fuel line from rail (use a rag to catch the fuel that will leak)
Disconnect each injectors wiring clip thingy
Pull on the fuel rail slowly and firmly but evenly.
They will all pop out, swap them over by taking out the retaining clip and replacing obviously
Reverse to fit

They will be quite stuck in so you will need to pull fairly hard.

Cheers Jenic, it is weird tho as it seems weather related, it did this quite a while ago now I think about it, went I left it at work in the cold for a week, got it home, left it in the garage for a few days and it was fine again... now its really cold its happening all the time obviously

Are you sure it's definitely 1 and 2, not 1 and 3?

Well acording to where the leads are plugged into the coilpack yeah, assuming I put them into the right plugs which im 90% I did! Exactly the same problem I had before I changed everything tho

worth checking your coolant temp sensor. If it's faulty and telling the ECU the wrong thing then you could be getting a lot of extra fuel thrown in. Similarly the lambda sensor could be at fault. Well worth a plug in on diagnostics

Cheers Danny, where is the coolant temp sensor located? Ill have a search now anyways.

In other news I am getting sparks on all 4 plugs, just check it this morning and they are 100% plugged in correctly, also I can smell petrol when its on idle.

If you have a spare set of leads and plugs i'd check if you are getting a spark on all 4, earth the plugs out while plugged into the lead and crank the car over.
