A bit of info about the New Clio RS.

  Yaris Hybrid

£17k... so that will be £14.5k from a car supermarket or online retailer.

Not too bad, wonder how much the new CTR will cost...at the moment this is likely to be my choice but I will have to read all the road and track tests. This is why certain TV programmes (cough 5th gear cough) should give a good 10 to 15 minute review when the cars are released instead of a 3 minute feature a year later....

I wont be buying until Autumn 07 so I guess I will be placing an order in summer 07. Should give Tiff time to test them.

i wonder if the launch of this will bring the prices of second hand v6s down or boost them up as im depending on them bringing them down to be able to afford a v6 next year or early 2007 hmmm. it does like mighty fine though.

  tiTTy & SV650

they say they wont do a v6 again, but they said they wouldnt build any more Williams didnt they....

Wander if theyll stand by this one?!

Car looks good, wheels look huge!

"will sprint from 0-60mph in less than seven seconds, going on to a top speed approaching 150mph." so its not gonna be faster then, he he.

Looks the nuts though.

  Ziel Nurburgring

Well its going to be heavier, so the extra BHP will keep it around the same speed as the 182 id imagine. Hope it gets a 6 speed box in it

Dont you think thats really disapointing performance to 60, another Renault that will always be known at not quite quick enough and there are better faster cars for the money syndrome.

It looks fanstatic, what a shame its not as quick as it looks :(

Another Renault that will always be known as not quite quick enough? Like which ones? Surely not the GT Turbo, 19 16V, Clio 16V, Williams, 172, Cup, Megane 225, Clio V6 or 182?

Wait until the real thing comes out before judging it.

@ 17k arent they pricing themselves out the ,marketr they have done so well in for years.

i sure wouldnt pay 17k but would pay 12k for the current model.

The original mk1 172 was 16,500 when that first came out so dont think 17k is pricing them out the market. As someone else said that means 14k from car supermarkets.

I am dissapointed with the power to weight. Needs more power, the new CTR and VXR are going to have more power, but then maybe the Clio will out handle them...

i reserve judgement until it arrives on our shores.... but so far im liking what i see... and will probably get one.

The red one in Auto express pics looks okay but looks a little tall and does look a bit chopped??

In the smaller pics of the yellow one, it looks awesome and I would definately buy one if it handles/goes anything like my 182 and if circumstances (read funds) allow.

IF it has 200bhp, weighs 1200kg+ and has a sixth cog, then theres every reason to expect it to be bang on current Civic TypeR pace. So about the same, or slightly faster than the current 182.

which is exactly right ^^^ any faster than a 6.5 to sixty and 145mph in a supermini and you mite aswell get an awd turbo saloon or spend some cash on something that looks as fast as it is. what do people want from a cheapo french super mini 0-60 in 5s ? 150mph. there wanting to sell to everone not just a hardcore few (which is where the V6 comes in) thats why its styled like UK buyers want this time as we buy the most clio RSs. i think the extra weight will remove the twichiness of the back end and and be safer in a crash which lets face it a lot of people have done in 172/182/cups.
also i would imagine with more power it will be faster at the top end and pull past 182s around 100+ mph

Totally agree mate. Also, they cant just price-out the rest of the range. Any quicker, and the Meggy 225 would be a moot point. Im expecting the next RS Clio performance to be bang on the current machine, with a little more high end grunt. Expecting anything more is just daft.

dont worry about the £17k, i mean who pays £14.6k rrp for the clio 182 ?
£17k will prob be less than £15k

CANT BELIEVE THEY ARE GOING TO KEEP THE ENGNE AS A (4). Do you reckon that they will just lift the existing 4 and put it into the new car - sounds a bit like it. Its about time that we experienced a (6) in a clio sport and 6 gears to go with it! According to the mag its " forget abou the VXR" etc etc. But from the specs that I read it doesnt look like theres going to be much difference from the current crop of 182 /172 etc. I feel a tad dissapointed - yeh I like it but not sure that will be enough to part me from the 182 after only 2 years - it really would take something pretty special for me to let the beast go.

From the figures in the mag - it just doesnt add up to what they say about the car. Also from the picture - is it just me or does it look like the front bonnet edge is not fitting properly - are we going to see some build quality issues carried over as well - probably a safe bet.

agreed esco, doesnt look like it will be much quicker, do like the styling tho. would have to test drive it, else by the time that is out there will be better things available.. and im certainly not a renault brand whore. Wish the idiots would screw their cars together properly.

My 182 would be perfect save the squeaks and rattles. Attention to detail you scumbags or no job! people should be held accountable for the work they do, most of us are in our daily jobs I dont see why that doesnt apply to car manufacturing staff.

My 2ps worth.

Si.

  300bhp MR2 Turbo

IMO they should put the Megane turbo engine in it.

But saying that I think any n/a 4 cylinder car that can pull a 0-60 time in sub 7 seconds is quite impressive. Shows how engines have moved on in the last 10 years.

If you wanna go sub 6 seconds itd need a sh*t lot more power and torque so your talking larger capacity and / or charging.
