A Bugs Life (ends)

Hi folks,

Which bug remover do people here find best for removing bugs, etc. from the front of your car? I recently bought the Turtlewax one in the green bottle (buy one get one free) and its mince - doesnt do a thing to loosen bugs. Im scared to rub too heavily incase I scratch the paintwork so the front of my cars a mess at the moment.

There seems to be a very feckin resistant type of buy around here at the moment...

Ive just washed mine.... took aaaages to get the flies off. I set about em with a pressure washer first to loosen em a bit, then give them a good soak and finally sponge them off withh my magic bug-removing sponge. (sponge with fine cotton mesh on the outside)

Ive tried all the comercially available fly-removing products, and have found them to be no more effective than good old fashioned elbow grease!! Just have to be extra careful that your sponge is glean.....

Is that the one in the tub? Bits of paper that are like baby wipes? If it is I was my car first then go over the bugs with the remover, they seem to come off no bother, I then rinse it with water to remove the residue.

Im getting sick of doing it now tho, Ive washed the car 6 times in just over a week!

Halfords own....i swear by it.

Coming home from Birmingham late on Sunday night the car was a mess....havent had time to clean it, and its been sat out in the baking hot sun for two days. finally got round to it last night just sprayed that on and they wipe off!! :D

Cheers for the replies- I just need to try harder I think!

Cheers James - didnt try a search on "flies" only tried "bugs" - doh! Wax will help. Ive got meguairs 3-stage in the garage but Ive not had a chance to polish or wax the car since I got it - work, GF, etc. Hopefully Ill manage it on Sunday if the weathers OK, grrr...

Got some Halfords Bug & Tar wipes ... sort of a fibrous baby wipe with strong detergent. Work really well ... takes 1 or 2 to do the front of the car.

the sponges with mesh on them will scratch the f**k out of paint, the best most easiest way to do it and the safest way, spray with a hose quickly to get rid of any big dirt and grit, then get a bath towel, and soak it in warm water, then lay it over the front of your car, 10 mins later pull it off and they will all come off dead easymost will stick to the towel when you pull it off, any left on the paint will simply come off with a squirt of ya pipe :D problem sold.

I got one of these sponges a couple of weeks ago and its great! The mesh is very light and would be hard pushed to scratch the paint. I only use this sponge on the front bumper, windscreen and wing mirrors. Combined with a heavy soaking from hot soapy water all the flies come off a treat!

Eeeks.. anything which would scratch a CD (and Im 99% sure they do) is causing havoc with your laquer.. heh.

I wouldnt put that mesh thing near anything other than headlights, numberplates or windscreens.. heh.

Oi you lot lol.

Lee the car did look good thank you!! (what did you use on the tyres?? they still look good even after parking on a dusty car park all week!!)

i wish id taken a photo of it now....the mirrors were caked in flies....and so was the whole front including the bonnet. not just squished mess....but sort of decapitated objects and lots of yellow and blood gooey stuff.

it sat out in the sun like that cooking for two days but a quick squirt of the halfords own stuff, and the mess just wiped off. so its almost gleaming again!!

havent done the screen yet....thats a real mess too!!

I dont know what the tyre stuff was, my brother sent it over from Florida when my parents last visited. It smells of cherry though.

I really should have waxed your roof.
