A few Problems.......

Hi all this is my first post,

Ive got a mk2 172, had it fir a couple of months now, and there is a few things id like clarifying please. the first is the auto headlights, this feature does not seem to work, i have driven in the dark and the lights do not come on - is this only available on some models of the car or can you turn it on/off?



and the other is my air con. it doesnt get cold. i have had it re charged at my mates garaage and it started to work, but now its gone back to not colling down. any ideas?

You can turn it on and off. With the ignition in accessories position, rotate the lights on and off on the stalk twice and it should activate the next time you use the car. They will stay set to auto until you turn it off by repeating the process.

Possibly a leak somewhere if its been re-gassed and then after a period has gone back to not cooling again.

cheers for that with the lights



the bloke that re charged it said that any leaks would have shown up on his computer thingy and said it could be a pressure switch but its a dealer part and i will get my wallet raped!!

Pressure switch is normally fairly cheap on most cars and fairly accessible. Must admit im not sure where its located on a 172 or the cost. It would require a regas when fitting it though.

Could be the dryer unit, that went on my mates car and had his pressure tested and its was showing up fine but didnt get cold.

Worth checking out.

Can you remember if this was expensive, just im trying to save for a exhaust\filter?
