Alright, I’m slightly over budget for full bangernomics status, but this is by far the cheapest car I’ve ever bought.
The car itself...
Purchased blind (and slightly intoxicated) for £1900 off ebay. Slight background to the purchase is that I’m currently based on a site 4 miles from home and could well be for some years, the wife had an Audi A1 that had been ruined by an emissions recall, and I had a brand new Seat Leon FR as a daily. The end game is that the mrs is now pregnant, the A1 popped off to WeBuyAnyCar, she got the Seat and I needed a ‘banger’ for work.
Saw an advert for this which was well written and on the surface seemed like a well cared for car. The result being it is now stands on my drive with the following:
2.0t manual
2 previous owners (mother and son)
135,000 miles
Full saab/specialist service history (every year on the button)
MOT until november
£1700 spent on it just before xmas on a full service discs/pads etc.
Spec:
Leather
Cruise
Climate
Xenons
2 stage heated seats
In short, i love it. Not a rattle/knock/squeek anywhere, quiet as a mouse on tickover, pulls hard, clutch seems spot on. Gearbox is clunky but its a GM unit and internet concencus seems to think they are all the same. Is slightly better when warmed up. 210bhp but isn’t what i’d call fast in any sense of the word. It’s no slouch but you can tell its a heavy car. Fuel consumption isn’t great, around 25mpg average for far but i’m doing 8 miles a day so don’t care.
I’ve spent abit of team cleaning the inside up, but other than that it still stands from the original advert pics above. I’ve only took one picture of it:
Plans are to drive it. Needs a decent laser alignment as it pulls like a dog at the minute. Needs a front tire soon also but other than that I’m hoping for some trouble free motoring.
It’s the first car I’ve ever owned that I genuinely don’t give a sh*t about and its great!
