  RenaultSport clio 172 mk2
Hi guys, a new kid on the block here. I have had a clio cup 172 for about 5 months now & love it to bits. A place i visit, (its an island) has no super plus unleaded, i had to fill up twice with normal unleaded. I was told by chap i bought car from that you can do this in emergency's, said it may r****d the engine??? sure enough, something happened, i got greater miles per gallon, 40+. The engine seemed to get more noisey running normal unleaded, even after changing back to super. Seems ok now thou. Just wondering what other peoples experiences were, as i will probably have to do this on a few occassions.

Welcome to the forum. 95 RON will 'r****d' the engine, it will run on any RON rating within reason. Sainsbury's Super Unleaded, Esso Super unleaded and BP Ulitmate are 97 RON if I have it correctly and the only true 98RON petrol is Optimax. There is no need for a panic, its just whether or not you want to run it on 98RON rather than 97 or 95! There are a million and one threads about Optimax V the rest...do a search, you should find it!
