A little cleaning help please

  Renault Clio 1.4 RT
Hi all,

I'm changing my cleaning products from Autoglym to Meguires and would just like advice on which polish & which wax to use. I've sorted the rest - bought 'soft gel wash' 'bug & tar remover' 'quik detailer' 'quik clay' 'scratch x' , a wool wash mitt, a microfibre polishing cloth, & some hand applicator pads.

My paintwork is black basecoat with 4 layers of metalflake, & then 3 layers of lacquer over that, & i would like a polish & wax which will really make the metalflake sparkle.

Also, i need some sort of drying tool (chamois etc.) can anyone suggest a good one?

Thanks.

For drying loook into a good microfiber waffle weave drying towel.

Polish and waxes on Metallic Black. If working by hand scratch X is your first port of call on any defects etc.

I would be tempted to use products to give a clear wet look to make the Black look deep and wet and allow the flake pop.

For me Clearkote Vannila Mose Hand Glaze, Followed by Poorboys EX-p Sealant, with Poorboys Nattys Blue Carnuba Wax. Car will look wet and glossy but the products give a clear look to allow the flake to pop.

All the above are here http://www.seriousperformance.co.uk/ with CS discount.

If you restricted to Megs products then the best option would be their three step stage - polish/cleaner, sealant, wax.

If your not, then go with Rich's suggestion.

With the discounts that you can get online and the quality of the products I can't remember when I went to somewhere like Halfords to get anything. Get most of my stuff from CarWashnWax now.

O.k thanks.

Just bought 'Poorboys Nattys Carnuba Wax (Blue)' Getting really skint now so will have to economise some on the polish.

Also picked up a microfibre drying cloth.

there is nothing wrong with auto glym, on black i find that super resin followed by a few coats of extra gloss protection will give a beautifull wet look finish

Agreed, topped with a good carnuba wax will improve things even more.

Some products AG can't be beaten for. Product Line for product line I prefer Autoglym to most of Meguiars shop sold consumer ranage stuff (NXT, Gold Glass DC 1-3). They do some good Pro/Bodyshop line products though.
