A quick PAC code question...

I've just received my PAC code from my previous provider, Vodafone.

I called my new provider, 02, to register the code, but forgot to ask about how long activation takes :o

IIRC, it's around 24 hours?

A quick Google brought up loads of results, varying from an hour to a week! :S

Has anyone done this before? How long does it take... roughly?

Fankya.

* sub question here *

can you get the ball rolling with your new provider before you give them the PAC code? As from what you had written Chris it appears you can?

Again, this used to be impossible. But you can do it pretty much when you like.

i think you can issue your new provider with a PAC code upto 6 months from the start of your new contract.

so i get a new number and once my PAC comes through i can then change it to my old number? really? that is kinda cool.

I'd check with the PROVIDER(S) (not the shop, they know nothing) first.

Yep!

I started my 02 contract before i even requested the PAC.

All i needed to do was call 02 when i had the PAC... then they set the process in motion.

That's exactly what i've done

I had a "temporary" number until the PAC cleared :D

Once it clears, the number your new phone/SIM was issied with, becomes null and void.

Same as how my O2 to Orange worked.

Was quick and easy, even 2 years back heh :)
