A sad sad sad day for the Clio 182..

  Shhh
The clio 182 in racing blue, with stripes and stickers down the door has become just racing blue..

a sad sad day, but it had to be done to make us fully legal in every way...

im never going to find it in the car parks now.. :(

  Shhh
im with admiral, and decoration changes were not covered, ie..

the optional stripes and the shopping list down the door..
also removed the K&N induction kit..

car is fully back to spec as it would of come out of factory..well kinda..

  Shhh
no cant declare them both, its admiral, they dont pay out to optional extras and tbh i cant be ar*ed with the hassle.

i was with adrian flux, the wife passed car test.

since then, need to be str8 incase she slams it into anything being a new driver...

she already hit a truck.. :(

  Shhh
naaa, its cool, well she was turning right at the T junction, truck came from the left, cut corner and smash...

have bike & car you see.

next is a 2008 1.2 16v 5dr clio

FFS. You serious?

If I want to get vinyl cut-out lettering, plastered all over my car that says "I bum goats for fun" - then that is my car, and I should be fully entitled to do it.

Another wonderful idea, cooked up in the Insurance Sh1tpit..... I mean, Thinktank. :dapprove:

D.

wtf! the stripes dont make you go any faster so whats the problem.

I've got those areo wipers on mine. Should I ring them and check to see if they want to rape my wallet for a £25 admin fee to change the policy because I replaced worn wipers with better ones?

  Shhh
ok smart as*

the clio with the stripes and shopping list is not a threat to anyone if its a TPO claim, but if there were to be a claim where the car was stolen, ie.. an increased risk then the f*ckers would use that against us to claim.

also, it just looks chavvy..

stripes are out...

i worked for admiral mate

i think you have got the wrong end of the stick.

They wont payout any more money for the stripes so if something happens to the paint and they pay for a re spray they wont put the stripes back on.

I'm guessing the only reason why admiral will charge stripes as a mod is because it makes it stand out, therefore more obvious for thiefs etc? Maybe?

thts the way i would have taken it.

anyway if the car is bought from a dealer with stripes as standard, even if it is an extra, its part of the car as standard and shouldnt be classed as decoration :S

i agree. Id just play dumb and say that you thought it was part of the 182 sport package.

  Shhh
naa, never going too happen as 2 years ago insured them with the stripes, stickers, induction kit all disclosed.

just takes them too look back and were in the sh*t.

On the plus side, i had enough of the stripes, they were starting to lift on the roof from the car wash, and just sick of the car standing out, I drive 80mile a day so going to see how it goes now.

Its the usual, when i mess up people think im just another boy racer, well im 28 nearly 29 now, and the stripey clio just doesnt fit me anymore with 2 kids in the back of the car..

not long and the clio will be making its way back onto the car showroom, for some other mug to come and buy it.?

would i buy another renault clio sport, naa im ok, they rattle themselves to bit and they aren't that fast...

Correct, I had to declare the stripes with Elephant and they said this. Now I am with another insurer and although they know about the stripes they said its ok.

the other problem is that the wife has just passed her test, if she smashes the car up, they may look to use a get out clause depending on damage caused.

I find it ludicrous that the stripes (which come "standard" from the factory) have to be declared.

  Renaultsport Clio 182 ff
well i would have thought, just by giving your reg no: the insurance would know what was on that car as standard from day 1.... ??

The stripes aren't actually a standard feature though, they are an 'optional extra'. It's like the Cup packs on the 'Full Fat' 182, some people think they should be declared and others don't. I think AliasOmega has done the right thing personally as insurance companies will do anything not to pay out.

  Renaultsport Clio 182 ff
must say these insurance companies should have all the stuff on their system, then it would make it easier for everyone...

i did tell directline about my full cup packs which was on my car as an extra from day 1!
but what a nightmare, "well have you had the car lowered?"
no i have not, it come like it from new....

it was hard work explaining about the cup packs..... still dont think they got it right now!
as my policy states, Non standard Alloys, when all they are is a different colour!
and it states Non standard suspension..... hard work!

It was part of the sport package on some 182's and if its standard and youve insured the car as standard then surely its legal!!

Just insure your car with Greenlight, tesco arsed me about with the cup packs, so i just rang greenlight they knew what a cup pack was, so its all legit and they saved me a fair few quid as well :)

  LY 182 FF CUPPED
they will have to cut my arm off before I remove my stripes......f**k me its heritage...not a modification!!!
RenaultSport182.jpg

if your car was stolen etc....and the stripes were on.........I find it hard to say they would dispute the fact that it was to do with the stripes, and refuse a pay out

After all its heritage..."gordini racer etc"

Bizarre

P>S and your quote about it looking chavvy with the stripes???? WTF did you buy a racing blue....only to have it without stripes???

just buy " A BLUE CAR"

If it gets stolen just say the theives put them on if you crash not hard to whip them off!
