Some tw*t has just reversed into my car and driven off, while I was in bed.

The girl accross the road got a bit of the plate, and just been to the Police Station to report it as a non-stop RTC.

The best thing is, spent £400 yesterday on Service, MOT and Tax, which completely skint me, now this, and Ive still got to get my Mum a present.

All in the two days before Christmas, timing or what.

I had someone drive into my 3month old car once and then drive off.

5ks worth of damage and it spent the next 3 months in the bodyshop

Its not "serious", just so annoyed.

I wouldnt have been bothered at all if he/she had stopped, I wouldnt have even gone through insurance companies, all I want is it repraying (its a scrape not a dent).

Its not like they did it on purpose i know, but could have had the common courtesy to stop and at least knock on the door, I live on a terrace street and the car is parked outside the house.

Oh well, the story on the general page puts things into perspective, at least Im ok, no one hurt etc etc.

Sorry to hear about ya car mate that is harsh just before crimbo not good at all, is the car repairable? i was in car accident the other week and car was a write off,

The dint will push out I think, and isnt running above the line of the car and then just needs spraying.

The girl accross the road knew some of the reg (only missing the last letter) and the make and model, and its all reported to the Police, so hopefully they will be able to trace it and it will get done through his / her insurance company, and not out of my pocket.

Fingers crossed anyway, hopefully should know by mid to late January. Dunno if they can get charged for not stopping though, if the vehicle is traced, they get 14 days to produce all their stuff (enough time to repair the damage to theirs and me to have no proof??) and then its another 14 days to sort something else out.

Well, the Police have managed to completely blow away my already low estimations of the them with this great statement.

"It isnt worth us checking all the possible registrations (52), because even if we were to match the vehicle, we wouldnt be able to prove who was driving".

God dammit - Go round, if there is a big blue mark / dent on the rear bumper, then its fairly conclusive that they have hit a blue car - then it is their problem to sort out the driver - the vehicle is insured (presumably), so I can claim of that (I dunno how accurate that is - but is the way I see it).

So, all in all, I am stuck with the bill of repairing it! Fanbastardtastic! Just what I need after Christmas with insurance to be paid in April, and a trip to Italy in March.

I appreciate that this isnt an "important" case, but for the sake of looking through 52 possibilities on a national scale (bearing in mind that it was Christmas eve, so was quite likely to be a vehicle from outo f the area).

I just dont think that the Police do themselves any favours in cases like this!

Thats the police for you in my experience - a while back id had my car just over a week when some C*** broke in putting a big hole in the door and whipped my stereo - went to the police station and while i was there some bloke reported who did it and numerous cars that afternoon and gave them a registration plate - NOTHING!!!

Similar thing happened at work load of cheques got pinched and the burks that nicked them left so much evidence and guess what...NOTHING - theyre a waste of sodding time mate IMO

I know how your feeling mate. About 10 years ago when me the wife were poor students a tw@t in a transit van hit the wife and drove off. But she DID GET the reg number. The police after 2 months of investigating (probably sat on somebody’s desk) said it was a company vehicle for a large builders in Leeds (where the incident occurred). The owner of the builders did not no who was driving at the time, so know charges could be made!!!! We had to drive around in a car with no bumper. W@nkers.

If no one owns up to driving the car then usually the director goes to court and takes the blame.
