Hello, I have been meaning to do this for a while!!! I spent a good few hours on wednesday, cleaning engine bay and then painting it, and giving the outside a bit of tlc.....
then the same evening the flippen gearbox went...... i cried!!!
i brought my boyfriend to just outside glasgow so he could pick up his new motorbike, (on the way it jumped out of gear twice but i didnt think anything of it) then on the way home on the motorway, if felt as if it fell out of gear, but i couldnt move the gearstick at all so then i thought it must have been stuck in gear so anyway i drifted over to the bit on the motorway were you can stop to see if i caould get it into gear, it wouldnt go into 1st, 3rd, or 4th.... so i took off in 2nd and then got it into 5th... drove for about 10miles then stopped at a service station and it went into every gear no problem.
then once i got into the centre of edinburgh i was coming up to traffic lights and it had just turned from red to green, so i went from 3rd to 2nd to pull off and the car made a loud boom and halted, my boyfriend went into the back of my on his new bike, luckily neither the bike or car got to badly damaged, just a wee scrape. my boyfriend went to park his car around the corner and just then the police came and pushed my car around the corner because i was abit shaken.... and it wouldnt go into gear or start up properly.. so the police went away and i tried to get my car started just to see if i could get it home, and it wouldnt go into gear, the stick was so stiff, everytime i let the clutch out it stalled, then it started makin really loud grinding noises and then i thought i had better not try anymore, also there was gearbox oil leaking out from it.
so my boyfriend went home got his van and tried to tow me back, we got most of the way home and then the car went boom again and wouldnt steer or pay game at all, so i had to leave it in a car park overnight. it was really traumatic!! bear in mind this was all happening at 3am...... the car has been lifted to a garage now and i am just waiting for the parts to be brought up to get it sorted!!
(I got a gearbox out of a 05 182 with 20k on it, so hopefully that will be it sorted. i have only had the car 2 weeks, i cant believe that happened to me. worst night ever.)
