Accelerator Cable Snapped?

  UR R26R.5, VW Golf R
Was driving home in my mates Clio earlier and the accelerator pedal just hit flat to the floor, but with no power to accelerate. I pulled over and noticed that the cable and pedal was really loose. Looks like its either snapped or jumped out of place. Obviously I couldnt drive it any further so it had to be towed to a garage where they will see what the problem is and sort it out :dapprove:

Anyone else had this problem or know about it as a common fault? Costs, labour charges etc? Any help would be very appreciated.

Thanks guys.

sounds like its typical snapped throttle cable. Part is around £15 and relatively easy to fit. took around 30mins.

Yeah snapped throttle cable. Not sure if its the same on the Renault but on the striker, the cable sits in a groove cut in the top of the pedal rod (bear with me) and is held in place by a locking bolt.

If this bolt came loose, it would be possible for the cable to accedentally pop out of this groove. Might be worth checking mate, although, to be fair, its more likely its snapped and £50 including cable is all it should cost.

Yeah its a 1.4 Clio. Well, £50 ish plus the towing fee, shame really as it shouldnt have happened. But alas... thanks peeps!
