Acer Inspire One - Solid state or Hard Drive?

16GB solid state or 160GB hard drive? Will be running XP and the ACER has dedicated SD slot which could be used to run another 16GB SD.

Use is just for surfing the web so really not sure if the HD is needed. Plus solid state should be more impact resistant if the little bugger gets thrown about a bag lol.

Machine will be running XP and 1GB Ram

About £30 price difference.

solid state is much faster imho if you dont want to store files then solid is a great choice

SSD FTW. My new Dell laptop has SSD inside, the whole machine feels so quick and quiet too.

Well that looks like a pretty easy decision! Its not for file storing of any type, so looks like thats the choice!!!

Plus its cheaper too!

get normal then buy a decent solid state

intel SSD's are the best, i recommend the X25

solid state and a big external HDD. Makro had Terabyte external HDD for about £50+vat!

i got one of these on normal hard drive and is plenty fast enough

Im running an 80 GB 10k Drive. Use an external 500GB drive to store s**t on.


SSD's are ment to be the dogs nuts, id have one but im not willing to shell out such a large amount of money on a hard drive.

True - but this is just for web browsing and looking at pics from a SD card etc. The main computer is used for all the storage malarky!

no need to be pedantic Mike, it'll be closer to 73gb if you do want to be though as they are normally listed as 72.8 or 73.4gb.
