acoustic valve removed, no difference?!

my bf removed my acoustic valve yesterday and i honestly cant tell any difference apart from the fuel economy going down! it was revving above 10,000 at idle but now its settled down to a tiny bit under 10,000. i'm gonna get him to put it back on i think, i cant tell a difference!

i just wanted a bit more sound cos the 182 is so quiet, but as im not mechanically minded maybe im expecting too much from just removing the valve..

I found that removing the valve and and feed increased the noise and 5k onwards was more pokey. Could just be a placebo but im sure there was more power!

I took mine out, tried it and then refitted it. No benefit I could see and I did drop a few mpg which was restored when I refitted it.

I removed, then refitted mine. Noticed no difference at all! If anything it ran slightly worse when cold with it removed!

If its idling higher than usual, i bet serious money on him not pluuging up the vac pipe to the valve. This must be done, as it creates an air leak in the inlet manifold.

...but seriously ; i agree you can just as well remove one of the pipes from the box... same effect. May get a bit of warm air in there when in slow moving traffic

when i took mine off someone commented that it looked as though it revved a bit harder but that could be the induction noise confusing things. But the way i look at it is less things obstucting airflow the quicker air can enter the engine. It must allow more air in removing the air feed otherwise it wouldnt be any louder ones taken off surely?
