Adjusting headlight levels on a 182

  Astra CDTI SRI
<<EDIT : Might have posted this in the wrong section before >>

Had a quick search and didn't really get a concreate answer..

Since lowering my 182 (full fat) I can only see about 6 foot infront of my car.

I know they are supposed to be self leveling, but it doesn't work.

How do you adjust the head light level?

Cheers!

So, has anyone tried to adjust it?

Are we talking about sticky back plastic and pvc glue, or bits of wood and toilet roll holders? ;)

Also down behind each headlight , there is a white plastic allen screw , afaik this adjusts the headlights as well .

I'm only going off what somebody else on here said about adjusting the headlights with these screws . I know had similar ones on my pug 306 and they adjusted the headlights .

I don't know if these screws adjust the headlights vertical or horizontal .

The ones you've posted do yes as their the headlight adjusters and winding the screw will manually raise or lower the adjuster. There is another screw which adjust the headlight horizontally but its in a right spot and it'd be hard to confuse the two.

Only do it with the engine running otherwise when you start the car the lights will auto-adjust back to where they were. Not sure which way is up and which is down but have a bash there's a 50/50 chance of getting it right first time. :rasp:

lol thanks for letting me know about havin the engine running, i would of got most confused.

Ill have ago in about 30mins when its abit darker out there.

It's clockwise for up if I remember right. And do it on the level! :)

And I can confirm that if the engine's off, they go back to where you started when you switch it on. I was royally peed off when I discovered that. Especially as the thought of leaving the engine running in a dark car park dawned on me.

Ah, that's about ri.... VROOOM! (Watches, allen key in hand, as some thieving scrote reverses off with the bonnet up).

They check the headlight level when you have an mot, maybe take it to a garage and get them to do it for the correct LEGAL limit :D

i went out for a drive and kept stopping to adjust! there pretty back to how they used to be now. ill get a garage to check them soon lol

We have just got a £3000 headlamp beam setter at work for adjusting up headlamps, so i moved mine up a notch using this, its probably best to give a garage with a decent beam a shout and get them to adjust them up properly otherwise you could be all night trying to get them at the right height.
