Advice needed in regards to lighting

Chaps,

Trying to take some shots of my little lad (2 weeks old today!) but struggling to get the effect I want. I want to recreate something like the image below

Any recommendations on lighting etc to do this? Preferably on the cheap!!! I have black card/cloth etc... but currently no suitable light source (unless there's another way!)

Get a bit of black card and make like a funnel type thing. Then dim everything else. Set the funnel up on a lamp/torch.
