Advice Needed

Just need abit of advice or some help

ive given my car a 172 cup in to a garage just to change the rear brakes and pads.

I got the bearings separate but they said they could press them in thats fine. Just phoned them now though and they said when they took the old brakes off one of the spacers were broke and the other missing and they would need to get new ones on there.

Now as far as im aware spacers are like an add on to get the wheels out more right? or do they as standard have some type of spacers or some part behind the wheels besides just the brakes?

Do you reckon the garage are telling the truth? tbh im not too clued about changing brakes etc....

any help would be appreciated thanks!!

The first time I removed my rear discs, I found little shims/spacers that sat on the hub shaft behind the bearing/disc. they might mean those?

Maybe I havnt actually seen it with the disks and bearings off its what he told me over the phone, so was wondering if these 'spacers' are standard on the clios's

I know they have them on the 172. I can see there maybe being one broke, but you can't get the carrier back on with the spacer missing, as it sits behind the disk and the disk then sits to far back (the holes will not line up). I have to get one of these for mine for Renault. Cost my £11.50 I think.
