Advice on DSLR camera buying...

  Suzuki Ignis Sport
Right, im looking to buy a DSLR camera,

And came across a Fuji FinePix S6500. I know it isn't a proper SLR camera, its just in the style of it. but I like the look of it.

Are these any good?....

My budget is around £150-200, and would buy second hand.

Any suggestions?

they are very good cameras, the closest you'll get to a DSLR for a fraction of the cost.

As said, they're a 'fake' DSLR in a DSLR body. But good cameras.

Could always save an extra £70 on top of the £200 and buy a Nikon D40 ;)

^Nikon are doing £30 cashback too meaning D40 is £240 or less with quidco if you shop around.

^^ Even better then :D
Apart from the fact that you then lust after all the different lenses lol

S6500fd gets my vote - very happy with mine! :)

I asked a mate what he would buy and this is the link he emailed me only a couple of days ago.

I have no idea about cameras but I am sure like most blokes I fancy one due to the fact that everyone else has one!

The price does seem cheap at £200.45 Delivered

used Nikon d70 or d50 is what i'd go for to be honest. I had a D40 for 3 months.....and when it came to upgrading lenses i found i'd have to pay a fortune for AF......so i bought a d70s....best move in a while. You could get a used D50 kit for £200 off the bay.

9600 is a good camera also, but personally I'm not sure it's worth the £50+ more than the 6500, unless you need more megapixels and a hinge-out screen for whatever reason.

I find it easier to not use Auto Focus on my D40, means another thing for me to control instead of the camera doing the work, it will take MF lenses too btw, so more choice to look at ;)

I started off with a 6500 then last year I got the 9600 which is quite a bit heavier. It has a brilliant zoom, macro and super macro, 9m pixels and if you make movie clips you can zoom in and out as you film, (ideal when filming bikes, cars horses etc) whereas with the 6500 it's a fixed zoom for movie clips!

I have never used a fraction of the features on any camera (you know me) but I have taken some really good pictures with both cameras and also the new one (smaller size also 9m pixels) I bought this week takes very clear pictures.
