Advice on front pads, and where to get them

£150 on pads!!!!

For 'a little' more I could get this (with the Ferodo pads!)

Do uprated brakes like this affect your insurance? In other word, are brakes something you have to declare? I cant see that it would increase your premium as your car stops better!

While Im at it, for 'a little' extra again, I could get this!

(assuming that is a full front kit!)

Would this be ok for spirited road use, with no issues in cold weather where the brakes arent being used a lot ie. not up to temp?

  Not a poxy Renault
1). I've done over 1000 road miles on mine and have had no trouble, they feel so much better than the DS2500's (Also have braided lines and Dot 5.1)
2). Halfords don't make their own pads, they are simply from a larger manufacturer and re-branded.
3). They can afford to sell them cheaply because they do not expext to be paying out compensation claims constantly from brake pads which are not fit for purpose.
4). Yozzasport don't sell much because they never ring back to take payment. (ordered my pagids well over a month ago, went to GDI in the end who supplied in 2 days)
I'm not trying to big up halfords here. Simply offering my advice based upon actual experience, the chap is after road pads. At the end of the day every forum has its favorites, mostly based upon trends, and they are all different. One forum slates a product, another loves it. The only way to actually decide on a product is to test them yourself, mostly this can't be done because of price restrictions, but in this case it can.
If you buy any road spec brake pads they will be fine for general road use, anything marked 'not for road use' (DS2500, Pagid Blue etc) won't.
All part of the balanced debate.

Thanks Tom. The halfords pads are only about £28 if I remember correctly. So if they are crap, I havent wasted a lot of $$$.

I think I'll probably give them a go. I think all the Ferodo, EBCs etc are way more than what I need (for the moment!!)

I have Brembo HC's and Greenstuff on the front, never experienced any fade until around 30 mins of track use!

They bite really well and sometimes take a second to bite but nothing dangerous!

On the track (250 miles of snetterton in a day) they hardly wore at all and I was braking HARD!

Never used the Ferodo's but the Greenstuff's seem a brilliant mild upgrade to me! The only realy extra braking force you will get is to bit bigger discs for more area for teh pads to grab!!

^^ WOW Nice find! Why are they half the price as usual!?

Im assuming that is enough for the complete front? ie the front axle? not just one wheel!

NEVER EVER EVER fit front pads from halfords.

(Unless they are another brand)

Fred is correct.

Yozzasport dont sell halfords pads because they;

1. Dont tend to sell s**t.
2. Arent halfords

Lets try not to be a troll.

Ive run PF97's on the road for about 5000miles with Brembo Max, braided lines, super blue fluid etc..... experienced no problems at all, in fact I think it could possibly be the best set-up i've tried with out moving onto 4-pots (which IMO is over kill on the clio anway!!)

Shadow

made your decision yet?

I'm buying over the next couple of weeks - so frustrating as no one place has all the parts at the right prices
