Car is going into a renault dealership on friday morning for the tapping and the bonnet catch to be looked at. The engine has done 32,000 miles and has been serviced as advertised. It was noticed that the engine was tapping excessively on sunday afternoon, the oil was checked and to be found ok. So therefore we suggested piston slap, or tappets knackered, out of adjustment.
How do i deal with the dealership to have this looked at. Im expecting the usual..that sounds normal, how do i tell them its not, and get them to fix it. Is this thing covered, or is it under wear and tear..
Advice would be good, as i dont like being fobbed off with advice that the noise is normal, it did not sound like that when i bought it, so why should it now..
