Advice pse: ITBs + ECU vs. stand alone ECU

K

kiwiclio

Looking for advice please on benefits of ITBs on top of gains that can be made from a tunable ECU alone (Omex 600) - i.e. what do you immediatly get for the additional 1,000-odd quid between complete ITB kit and ECU kit, and does having the ITBs imply improved gains from other engine mods - e.g. cams.

Any and all advice appreciated as there is little Clio-specific experience in New Zealand...thanks!

In the UK GDI are the main ITB retailer, they are a sister/closely connected to OMEX, they believe that its easier to run the car on a OMEX.

The only company i know of that are planning on doing ITBs on standard ECU are RStuning.

Benefits, there is no benefit of the stand alone really, If the car is mapped right it will run of a standard ECU. the differance will be down to the map.

The current benefit of the GDI/OMEX if that its plug in and play, meaning you can get the kit mailed to you, you can then fit it in you garage and the car will drive. The OMEXs come with a "generic" map (andy hates that term, but its the best way to describe it)

You will see about a 35/40HP gain with ITBs over a standard engine. Depending on how much money u spend uo could may be get another 20-30 BHP on top of this.

Ofc cams will add power but it depends which ones you go for.
