Advice re Airbag and Service lights please

ok ive taken it to a garage-they said they unplugged it and it went off but put it back together and its back!!!I dont want to spend a fortune on unnecessatry work-the garage think that it was probably getting wet when valetted it and it may go away.I would try the cable tie thing if Rob669 can explain step by step what to do(im a novice)-Id really appreciate it
I'm only guessing but I think he means using a cable tie to hold the 2 connectors together and keep a good connection.
Although I've done this and found that sometimes the light will come on and I need to give the wires a wiggle and it goes off.

Im not happy-they charged me £30 and were supposed to also fix the windscreen washers-they stopped within 24 hours so havent been fixed properly.They unplugged and reconnected but admitted they hadnt fixed it and said it was nothing!But its an mot fail as of last year and i want it right,I dont want to be ripped off.I rang another garage who said they wouyld insist on diagnostics and they dont go off what it says on here-thats £50 plus vat and then anotjher £48 plus vat to solder if it is the problem!Rip off!I know it was fine before,airbags havent deployed AND it wasnt doing it before the valet!Likelihood is the wires were moved with the seat and also possibly got wet when shampooing the floor and using extraction spray!Can anyone help?

Sliding the seats back and forwards will be probably what has triggered the lights, not the cleaning itself. Just feel under the seat and find the wire, trace it back to the plugs and unplug them. Give them a spray with some WD40 to clean them up and let it dry. Then reconnect them and press together firmly and see if the lights come back on or not.

Hi M8, I am not on the forum all that often but I will try and post a diagram tonight showing how to cable tie the connector. What's wrong with your washers - not spraying or not wiping?
hi rob cheers- re the wipers- back one not working at all(was trickling down but now not at all) and front ones were only squirting from one,now they are squirting(albeit poorly) from one hole on each wiper but not both.As we were charged £30 and they have since admitted not even touching the back one, we complained.in fairness they said to bring it back thursday and they will sort or refund and have another look at the airbag/service light issue.We mentioned soldering the connections but I could try cable ties if they cannot resolve.Also noticed an issue with the tripometer,pressing the button the display underneath doesnt change anything.The miles are registering ok but no other options

Just do the cable tie fix = sorted.
The wipers sound like blocked jets so just unblock them with a needle. If that doesn't sort it you need a new washer pump - about £13 from GSF or ECP.
The tripmeter sounds odd. I'd take the dash off myself and see if the black needle is connecting right with the dash.

its at the garage today and if they cannot sort il try cablwe tie job!The wipers are odd-it was coming out of one hole on the left and one on the right,then both right holes worked but one not very well,the rear not at all.The garage are useless-we took it back and they told my girlfriend the rear may be cracked and they may niot be able to sort!But they havent even looked at it!!!two of the holes on the front that do work,work powerfully so i dont think its the pump.Dunno why they are reluctant to look at back washer pipe tho-youd think they would want the work!
Mine did this as I was leaving the super market the other day.
Wiggled the cables and cable tied it when I got in and the problem went away.
That was 2 weeks ago.

My airbag light went on today on my 182. I tried moving the smaller connector under passenger seat around and it went off. Thank you.
can one of you guys explain to me exactly what you did.I tried unplugging but its well and truly connected and difficult to reach!i did put a cable tie on each to tighten the connection but no joy. which is the small connector spanky?can you explain in detial as iots bugging me
