Advise for buying a new PC please!

A friend of mine wants to buy a new PC but she doesn't need it to be ultra super powerful,
but it has to be big enough to be able to upload and store pictures and all that sort of stuff.

Does anyone have any advice, best buys, special offers or recommendations please?

Not sure, I'll ask her tomorrow. Her old one keeps going wonky and is not too bad now but unreliable.

Are there any good value ones at (she's in Kendal) Dixons, Comet or PC World because she won't want to be ordering one from away like we did, when we got an Evesham one from down south, built as we asked them to do, she wants one ready to go!

When you say hers is unrealiable whats the problem. Might just not be properly maintained and in need of a format to fix it if its just crashing occasionally etc.

You might aswell get one from PC World, if she just wants somthing simple Or i spose you could order a simple one off the internet..

For the old one.. i suggest that you do the following

1) Stop programs from loading when windows loads up
2) Update windows, any other drivers an programs
3) Anti-virus software updated, Anti Spyware Programs (Scan etc..)
4) Diskfrag.. Failing that

5> Back up all info, reformat, install fresh copy of windows, then install Anti-virus & spyware, drivers, update windows

this has all the extras you could want, gots its own graphics card, decent ram and storage, also for 30odd quid you could double ram..

how olds the other one, sounds like it just needs a clean out like others have suggested..
