After Buying A Cup..Info

  Fiesta ST

Im after buying a 172 cup in the new year and am just interested to know what it has/hasnt got compared to a normal 172....cheers

Use the Search, this has been done to death. Quickly:-

No aircon

No leather

No ABS

No TC

No Xeons

Lighter by about 80kgs (thats like removing a heavyish passenger)

Wider Track

Lower (cant remember by how much)

Better Alloys (IMHO)

One off colour (although they then produced a few in silver)

No spare wheel.

If your after comfort and toys for a daily commute get a 172

If your the sort of person that takes the long route to work along country lanes for the thrill of it, and does the odd track day and doesnt care about toys go for a Cup.

Love mine to bits.

right the cup has no spare wheel, no leather, no aircon, no engine cover, thinner door glass and windscreen, cheaper stereo(ie low Wattage), no carpet mats, no xenons, lighter by 80kg, lowered extra 3mm to the 172, no abs, no traction control, bespoke tyres(contisport contact2), lighter alloys, wider track, larger rear spoiler, lower front splitter, no cruise control, no esp, only has 2 airbags, 172/182s have side airbags, rubbing strips are matt blue finish, uprated braking system, uprated suspension, anyone else care to add i cant think of anymore

Forgot to say it has lighter glass than the 172 as well. As the 172 has the light reflective stuff.

Think of the Cup to the 172 like the M3 CSL to the M3, bother damn quick, and both great cars, but ones an alrounder, and the other is setup more for the enthusiast (thats how i like to think of it anyhow! :D)

lowered extra 3mm to the 172,

wider track (due to the different offset of the alloys) swop the 172 alloys for a CUp set and its the same track.

172/182s have uprated braking system, uprated suspension, anyone else care to add i cant think of anymore
Its lowered 5mm at the rear and and 7mm at the rear (just checked) but it has a greather tolerance of +-7.5mm wheras the 172 has a tolerance of +-10mm so the 172 can be just as low.

172 barkes are exactly the same the 172 has ABS and other electronic bits but they dont change the power of thee brakes. The suspension only different from a Cup as the Cup has a different setup and different dampers. The Cup setup could be set on a 172 its not a huge thing to do.

only 2 seat belts in rear,

Oh and special light weight tax disc, the tyres are filled with helium as well.:D Also the original owner had to have body fat of less than 18% to maximise weight advantage over standard 172.
