aftermarket steering wheel help guys!!

hi there guys i am wanting anew steering wheel cos mine is so warn it makes me feel sick to sit in front of it he he just wondered has anyone fitted a different steering wheel to standard in there 172 sport as the 172 wheels go for silly money and an aftermarket one is normally alot cheaper pics of any fitted would be great but i am wondering about the air bags light can this be removed and also will the rest of the airbags work correctly and is it an mot failure!!! cheers everyone

ive seen a 182 with an aftermarket wheel but it was only being used on a track.

on top of the price of the wheel you will also need a boss.

Airbag light is MOT failure

With the airbag light on, i doubt very much the others will deploy.

I have one on my 182.

The Momo boss comes with a resistor to turn off the warning light.

Wheel and boss came to around £160rrp.

I have a bucket seat and harness in my car not sure if I would do it with the standard seat belt.

Air bag light isnt an MOT fail. the other airbags will go off but if there is a fault with the other airbags it wont show up as the light is already lit.
You can by pass the airbag connector with a resistor momo make an Airbag ready boss kit.

cheers again guys any links and pics of the wheel and where can you get wheel and boss kit from to by pass the airbag light many thanks

I know what you're saying about airbags but you would be amazed.

I have just mended this one and he is so happy. He got it back yesterday and fitted it..

Its from a Supra..he bought it off a written off car and the wheel is a classic but no airbag..

He asked if i could fix it minus the airbag and I have its like new..as you can see from the pics but there is no way I would be driving a TT Supra without an airbag..

But as long as the customers happy who am I to say..lol

i've changed mine and i have no airbags in my car what so ever now and as for the airbag light i just took the led out from the clocks so it doesnt light up simple you have no idea how much all that sh*t ways seriously!

as for putting the new wheel on its easy as mustard eating! :)

I would'nt mind fitting the new 197 steering wheel in place of the old 182 steering wheel if it was possible. Then you have an airbag, cruise controls etc.. I think it would look better too.

cheers mark thanks for that link mate are there any wheel a little cheaper (lol) that would come with the resistor to turn the airbag light off??? plus i take it you have to tell tghe insurance company?

you do have to tell the insurance company but it didnt effect mine.

I bought the boss for £30 secondhand and the wheel for £60 brand new off ebay from www.rallynuts.co.uk. Keep your eye on ebay you should get a wheel for aroung £50 although most are 350mm. I doubt if you will get a seconhand boss though I think they are aound £40 new.

Heres an ebay link

I saw a magane on ebay a few years ago that had been pranged, not very bad at all, certainly not a write off for a couple of week old car.
Maybe would have cost £4k to fix.

Except...

Every single air bag had gone off, about 7 or something. Ripped open all the seats, dashboard, trashed all the roof lining from the curtain airbags and written the car off.

Having said that the bloke said he just stepped out of the car like nothing had happened.

Any wheel will fit with the correct boss. Get a momo boss and any momo wheel will fit. I would go 320mm which is the diameter of the wheel. Mine is a momo monte carlo

so in summary size to go for is 320mm and if a get a momo boss for airbag cars it will keep light off? quality? cheers thanks
