Aftermarket Stereo tripping immobilizer

Car  Mk5 Golf GTI
I recently fitted a sony aftermarket head unit in my 182 that had previously been fitted in my mk2 1.2 and worked perfectly.

2 or 3 days after fitting the car wouldn't start, Had the AA out and the guy said it looked like the immobiliser was being tripped by the radio and I wasn't sure whether to believe him or not. I refitted the stock head unit and the car has run perfectly again for the last month. Has anyone come across this issue before seems very odd to me.

I know, I can't understand how it could be causing it and it's doing my head in, do you have a link to the wiring harness for the steering wheel controls in case I try to refit again?
