Air bag light always on with new seat install

Hi all, i installed some new 172 cups seats on my mk2 ph1 1.2 rt & the plugs for the air bag & seat sensor are diffrent, i did the install a couple of weeks ago.. looking at it i seem to have the same number of cable's & colours so i would just cut & crimp but i dont want to blow the air bag off on my new seats by cocking it up lol so does any 1 know how it should be re-wired? also any risk of setting it off?

iirc when you chop and stick so long as discharged it wont go off,itll just mean the light will stay on.there are a few people who have fitted mk2ph2 seats in a mk2ph1

in the connector where the original loom plugged into the seats are two metal contact points. All you need to do is get a 3-6 ohm resistor from maplins, approx 5p each and connect one end to each contact point in the original loom plug. Tape in with black tape and hey presto! your airbag lights come on no more.

^ ^ sounds good.. but thats gonna mean i've got no airbag, is there any chance it can be setup so it works with the new seat? I'm assumeing it could but i dont wanna set the thing off & destroy my lovely new seats

someone had messed about with mine at some point so i soldierd the wires all back together job done no airbag light!

halfords dont do resistors
there is a thread that says what resistors do a search for seat fitting

I know on a V6 Mk1 you bridge the beige and brown wires together to get the light to go off. Black is obviously the earth and left alone untouched.

No idea what wires you've got but if same colour scheme it's those to

172 cup seats dont have airbags your lucky it has seats lol, the ff ones do tho
