Air bag light...WARNING !!

On my dash on the left of the counter there is a small light that has a picture of a person and an air bag, the light stays on constantly its a warning i assume but the manual isnt very clear. Anyone know what it is, whether its a common fault or my air bag is screwed. I have a mk2 RN 1.2 ta

is it the one that means the passenger air bag has been turned off? just turn it back on again with they key in the door.
