air bags

  Trophy #473
Not of the ghey suspension type but saftey ones.

I have a deployed passanger seat air bag. the serv and airbag light are on, I have an MOT soon, and no spare cash to sort it out before then, can i get away with removing the lights behind the dash and removing the passanger seat for the MOT. yes its a pikey way of doing it but i dont have much choice.

or can I just remove the lights and still get away with the ripped seat?

The seat is the only problem, rest of the car will pass.

Don't think it'll fail on the airbag, not 100% sure but i'm sure i've read people have been fine with MOTs with the airbag light on.

I assume your going down the reset route when you've got the cash rather than paying stupid money for a new airbag comp for no reason?

My air bag light comes on when something nudges the wire.. Im 99.9% sure it was just an advisory when I had my MOT last year as they managed to make the light come on.

swerved for a cat a month or so ago and hit a curb sideways, bent the rear axle and 2 alloys, got it all fixed except the air bag as Ive just moved into a flat and dont have the spare cash this month. yep going to reset it if i can, some say you cant some say you can. just need a new air bag and to have my seat stiched back up.

That sucks matey...personally i would've took the cat out..

A new bumper isn't anywhere near as costly as the above lot..

Oh you can, the bloody renault manual says you can ffs! God knows why stealers insist on a new comp everytime.

cost me £60 for a new rear axle £30 for a stub axle £30 for an air bag and how ever much 2 second hand oz f1's are. rear tyre is fine, still on the rim and inflated, fronts needed replacing soon anyway.
