Air Con Pump/Compressor Problem

Hello all

I too my Clio sport 172 to the garage today because I had noticed a funny noise. It turns out I need a new air con pump which is going to cost me at least £478 plus VAT for the part, fitting and a re gas. I would like some advice on getting the part 2nd hand as I have seen them on ebay ect for £30. How do you no which one is the correct one ect..?

Are you sure it's the pump? How reputable is the place?

In my experience it's ALWAYS been the condenser (air con rad) that's split, then when the system's emtpy it doesn't turn on.

Replacing the rad is an easy job for yourself, front bumper off and you're away.

Personally, with regards to buying parts, get it from Ren-parts on here.

They're a specialist breaker and should supply you with the right part, and will rectify if it's not right.

Not sure they are called RD Autos in Chichester. the AC is all still working. Just have this strange noise but it seems to go when im on the motoway! Can you reccommend somewhere or is there a website to locate good garages? i live in the Portsmouth and work in Chichester.

If you get the system filled with a uv dye it will show if there is a leak, if there is no leak you know it's failure of a component.
