Air-Con Removal and Refitting Info Please



Firstly what is the actual benefit of removing the air con? Is it just the weight saving? Or does it actually sap power? Are we talking like 1-2bhp or more?

Then, what kits are out there to use? The only one I think I've come across is the Pure Motorsport one. Is this any good? Well priced?

And finally, if it was to be removed, would I be able to store it and then simply re-fit it again if I was to ever sell the car and want to put it back to standard? Or would it need more work than that?

Iirc it's something like 15kg maybe more, I'll weigh mine when I remove it

Mines been removed but still has the block on the bulkhead up towards the drivers side.
im assuming the rest can be removed into the car aswell?

You can take the scuttle panel off ten take the heater box out and then take the small aircon rad out and put the heater box back in. Piece of piss. Then you can fit the black metal blanking plate from a cup. All reversible :D

Damn, had the scuttle out today for a few bits and didn't even think of looking at it until I got home and read Martins thread.
im not worried about reversing it at a later date, I think the car is past the point of no return now :)

Adam, got the box out today, bit of fun locating all of the securing bolts but got there in the end.
the black blanking plate from a cup, is that for the hole on the bulkhead in my picture?
