Airbox Mod Yes/No

On my standard airbox could I do away with the cold air feed pipe that goes into the airbox from just in front of the wheel and replace it with a pipe that I could run straight from the front of the car so it gets more cold air?

Also I have took this pipe out of the a/box so its sounds better(induction roar )is this a good idea or not?

I it sounds great with the pipe out(worse on the old mpg though coz Im on the throttle most of the time),it seems like a waste of money buying a open IK,got an ITG panel in it though

Why wouldnt Renault put a pipe at the front,surely it would have been better?

Ive been thinking of doing the same but never got around to looking into it.

So the original induction pipe goes under the wheel arch? If you are going to move it where would you move it to?
