Christopher ClioSport Club Member Z4M Sep 20, 2008 #2 It's an electrically operated box of tricks down by your nearside wheel arch, at the front. It restricts airflow to the airbox under part-load throttle and on cold starts. Removing it makes the inlet tract less restrictive, and the car slightly more responsive. It's a bumper-off job to remove though, although that's no great hardship, it can be done in an hour, total.

Christopher ClioSport Club Member Z4M Sep 20, 2008 #4 I've removed mine as the induction setup i have doesn't feed from there. So it's just dead weight. The people that have removed them say that it's worth it though, but i personally couldn't tell you, as i've never ran the standard airbox.
