Alarm Problems

  RB 182
The other day i left my lights, heater and radio on while ignition was off, and had a chat with my mate - you can guess whats coming!

I got it bump started, but since then ive had a problem with my Sigma alarm

Its simple, when i lock it, it turns the alarm off, when i unlock it, it arms!

A local audio centre says it might have been spiked, so suggested removing and refitting battery leads, and i then worked until i drove it, and locked it, and then came to unlock it and all it did was disarm, but not unlock. So i unlocked it, and it armed!!

Any ideas?

Check the state of the alarm. Ie: armed/disarmed.
Set the alarm into the disarmed mode.

Remove the fuses that supply the alarm.

Set the door locks to the same state as the alarm (open) and replace the fuses.

Ahhh, any idea where the alarm fuses are? Ive only had the car a month or two and it was on when i bought it

Cheers for that though!

Sadly not as they are aftermarket fit at the dealers so I would only be guessing.
Check for wiring that doesnt look quite like the cars own, around the fuse box area.

Ok, this is still a problem on my car!!!

Ive tried so many places now, its getting stupid!

Ive disconnected the battery again - no better
Ive disconnected the positive only, then pressed and held the fob button while reconnecting it (advice) - no better
Ive read the Sigma book i got - doesnt have my problem!!

The fecking alarm is in reverse, and ive no idea how to fix it!

Hello mate how's she treating you? (other than the alarm problem!)

I know this is going to sound stupid but this happened to me a few times and to fix it you just:
- unset the alarm (with the sigma fob) which will lock the doors
- use the fob on the key itself to unlock the doors (so the alarm should now be turned off and doors open)
- press the sigma fob to lock and arm the alarm. (and never touch the fob on the key again, at least untill it goes out of sync again ;) )

Should sort it out it used get out of sync whenever I took it to the garage as they'd use the wrong fob and it gets confused.

Cheers,

Charlie
