Alcantara Seats - Care Advice

JMR

  RB 182 Cup
Hi all

Just a note about care for your alcantara seats if you've got them in your 172/182 etc.

I've heard people talk, and read on this site about problems of the alcantara surface "balling" up. You know what I mean, like little threads appearing.....

I've got a 2003 plate 172 and my drivers side seat was looking a bit rough after 44k miles. The other seats are like new.

I've just had a Sweater De-fuzzer (Like the old Remington Fuzz-away?) bought for me as a birthday present to try and tackle this.

Tried it this afternoon and now my drivers seat looks just like new.

It's battery operated and costs about £10. Try eBay. Mines from the Remington shaver shop at Doncaster.

Nice....Interior as good as the exterior now. I will post some pics when I get sorted.

Sounds like an excellent idea JMR. I am getting my seats and door cards and rear bits recovered in leather soon, but decided to get the strips down the middle (bits you sit on and the bits your back rests on) done in alacantra' (sp) to stop my legs and back suffering in the summer, so I will keep the handy bit of information you have just provided in mind for the future.

Thanks for that.
