Alloy Refurb Complete

  1.8 8v RSi
Just finished refurbing my ph2 valver alloys in black with a red lip:approve:

Any curb/corrosion marks filled in with chemical metal and moothed over
(chemical metal is so hard to work with as it hardens in about 7-8 minutes)
It was then sanded down to shape with 600 wet&dry
then Sanded down with 1200 to give as smoother finish as possible

The wheels were then washed with water to remove any loose dirt and then sanded with 600 wet&dry to remove any stubborn dirt and corrosion

4 coats of grey primer were applyed and sanded down with 1200 wet&dry on first and 4th coat. Paint was then left for 24 hours while i went to work.

Then the lip of the rims were then taped up and 4 coats of gloss black paint were applyed the paint was then left for 8 hours and the lip tape removed.

Then the center of the rim was taped up(with great difficulty) and then the red paint was applied(should be wise to point out i forgot to apply red primer on the lip so the red paint didnt take too well but after a 3 coats it was fine) after center protectino was removed any over spray was touched up with a fine artists brush to give a nice finish

Would it not have been easier to spray the outer rim first, let that dry, then tape the rim to spray on the black? Justa thhought.

Good job though dude, fair play to you.

and as soon as i get my dslr bk from jessops i will:rasp:
really not happy about how heavy they are though... the car feels so sluggish. i weighted them and they average 15kgs EACH!!!! so im gonna be selling my other 2 sets of alloys and buying some lightweight ROTAS in a few months which way 5-7kgs each :)
