So the car is and always has been a pure garage queen.

some details.

Make - Ford
Model - Mk4 Escort Rs Turbo 90Spec
Miles - 70k
Mods - Turbo Back Mongoose exhaust, Adjustable Koni suspension, Bailey dump valve , 17” Rs 7 Softlines , everything else is factory and it’s never been painted or touched up. Fully under sealed also.

Owners - 2 Formers owners And we have owned it for the last 16/17 years

To be fair it’s shite to drive, 1.6 8v with no powder steering but no matter where you go there is people pointing and taking pictures.
I drove to put fuel in yesterday and there was a guy that took a video of the car all the way to the petrol station behind me. I them got the car rinsed as a car wash and they all took pictures of it.

Below is some interior pictures.
Poppy coral has been removed and we don’t have an original stereo so a pioneer unit was added for a CD player.

if I stumped up £15k I would buy a stunning red fiesta RS turbo to match

That's lovely. If it's mine, I think I would have to fit the original amber indicators, but spot on otherwise. Needs a stage 1 fettle too. Wakes them up a lot as I recall.

Fiesta was the first RS I drove. Felt like a rocket at the time. Think it was about 2001 and it had the usual remap, exhaust etc.

Both the Escort and Fiesta are definitely flawed, but they're an absolute riot I think.

Absolutely loved my Fiesta RS Turbo, was running around 200bhp and looked totally standard.

@MarcB your Escort is like a proper time warp, love it!

Pics spec?
Lots of money/spec was required to get 160bhp bhp from one mine was 190-200bhp on various dynos which was massive power in a fiesta in 1996!
Lost count of the other cars I pulled on really easy that were supposed to be 195 plus with just Plug in chip or bleed valve! 🤣🤣

Loved the shocked look when a car with less than genuine 200bhp had just battered there so called 230 plus RS 🤣

I don’t know where the pics are and have zero idea of specs other than it couldn’t run anymore boost and it blew the turbo and head gasket in spectacular style before I got rid of it 😅

Edit - Much to the annoyance of all the locals it went like stink compared to all the other big power turbos in the area.

The Escort was had to get decent power from because of the awful bosch metering unit used for the injection. The fez was efi so far easier to get to 195 with a front mount, chip and a bit of pre-load on a -31 actuator.

Love it Marc! Very similar to mine except mine is 88spec with the red seats etc. Although I do have the 90spec spoiler on it because it looks better.

Similar miles and owners too, must be pretty rare these days!

🤣 never see 195 with just that set up on a fiesta need 701 injectors to run more than 175ish.
Tuner would tell you it was making that but it never would🙄

Much easier to get that from escort as it ran T3 for a start not a T2

Indeed, there was a popular 195 chip back in the day which in reality was 170ish. I mapped quite a few fiesta's on megasquirt and with VXR injectors, a stage 2 T3 and a cam they would do 220bhp ish but not a lot more without a fair bit of work. Mine before rebuild on MFI was 190bhp on a standard cam and maxed out stage 1 T3, setup by TOTD. At 200bhp the RST is about as quick in a straight line as a 2WD cossy with 350bhp because the gearing is short and they weigh so little.

My personal best was 270 with ported head, cam, EFI, 630cc injectors, stage 3 T3, NMS machined pistons, Farndon rods and a very carefully built engine. With wilder cam and bigger turbo I'm sure it would have been closer to 300bhp but frankly at 270 it was already undrivable. I had far more fun at under 250.

The zetec on the other hand made power so easily, I setup a friends car which had boost creep (Ie, I couldn't properly control the boost!) and we ended the session with something daft like 440bhp, why people wasted their lives with ZVH's for years and years I will never know.

I said this recently, they are cool but omg they are hard work to drive and live with compared to anything even remotely modern. A saph felt like a rolls compared to the RST.

So true👍 everyone in the 90s with chipped RS thought it was 200 plus the reality was very different it would be easy to take someone out in a fiesta RS turbo running about 165-170 and tell them is was 200 bhp they felt that quick that they would believe it!

Mine was running chip 701 beige injectors pace cooler and rad piper 285T2 cam modded airbox, full scorpion exhaust , hybrid T2 most people who went in it thought it was 250 plus as Rob said was as quick as a cossie due to the weight and was nowhere near as laggy as an escort very good wide torque spread too.

My mates used go call it the ego basher! embarrassed many so called faster cars easily back in the day used to run it with a 1.3LX badge on the tailgate for a while for even more fun! 🤣

Great days. Think the FRST I drove was about 160bhp. A couple of friends had stage 1 Escorts and they were a riot. I went in Christian Major's S2, which was one of the ones regularly involved in the whole "thrash" thing run by Performance Ford mag. 160+mph in an RS Turbo was an eye opening experience that's for sure.

More recently, I've seen people using standard Focus ST170 bottom ends, with a MLS head gasket and a standard Zetec head. With the right turbo, that would do 300bhp easily, which is pretty impressive for an engine thrown together with cheap OEM bits.

Anyone remember Ian Howell was it that did one of the first ZVH in a fiesta turbo?
