Almost time for an oil change??(182)....

  182
Im nearly on 18k now so am gonna need so fresh oil for the 182.
Thing is Im gonna attemp this myself as cash is tight what with a new year on the tax and all that...
Looking in the DIY guides there is a full right up of how to do this, although no pictures which could be more useful :-(
Now I know what oil I need trouble is that I cant seem to find the ELF oil anywhere.
I remember a while back wasnt there a direct number so we could get hold of some at discount?
Is this option still available?
Do i need to use ELF oil or would any oil (same grade) from halfords do?
Can someone recommend a decent, easily obtainable oil?
Also things like oil filter, washers etc should I just but these from Renault or can I get the same parts cheaper somewhere else?

nice one
Rob.

If it's as tight as a 172 mk1 the oil filter is a b*****d to change cos it's so inaccessible. I used a hammer and a chisel/screw driver to make a grove in it then chisel the filter off because it was so tight. If you get someone with the hands the size of a baby then all should be well.

That dont sound like much fun! Isnt there a special tool I need to remove the oil filter?
How do you all rate the right up on "oil change" diy section?

Is the fuel rail cover that big metal lump right at the front of the engine?
Is it easy to remove/replace for the job?

Any pics of this to confirm?
cheers

Yeah its the big metal thing at the front of the engine there is two 12 mm bolts that hold it to the engine you will need an socket extension as it is quite deep take the two bolts out and the fuel rail cover will come off and you will have much more room . I would get a oil filter wrench to Halfords do them for about £10 i think hope this helps

Silkolene ProS 5w40 Fully Synthetic Engine Oil

Oil Filter you can get from renault or from Euro Car parts (0121 5555588) think it was about £5.

http://www.greydevilindustries.com/Products/default.asp?type=dept&DepartmentID=11190&MID=

There's some of the parts you need ^

You won't need the spark plugs changing. Every 70k I beleive.

Cheers Chris wont be doing spark plugs just the oil! That Silkolene proS Is that definatly ok for everyday use in the 182?
Also that link doesnt specify how much oil you get, would it be enough for the oil change just £39.99??

cheers
Rob.
