Alpine 9855r vs 9887 Which to Buy?

Hey guys

Im looking ot buy a new HU and have narowed it down to these two models, I have used the 9855 before and dont mind the glide touch but would also prefer not to have it, Just wondering how exactly the 9887 is different to the 9855r? which is the better of the two units?

Ill be using an ipod and the 9887 has the full speed link but how bad is the ipod adaptor for the 9855r?

Everywhere i have looked the 9855r has recieved great reviews and praises from its users but i cant find anything on the 9887, im interested to know what you guys think.

Edit: Also wanted to add, is the 9887 compatible with the stalk controls and display on the clio? i would imagine it uses the same incartec adaptor the 9855r uses?

Dont buy it mate. Ive got 1 and its shockingly bad.
Ive gone back to the stock hu cos its more reliable!

i've got a 9855r and its the a crackin head unit ,dont use it with an ipod though , but it's still a cracker , glide touch takes a bit of getting usd to

I got it for £220 including postage and had free fitting.

Im going to sell my Pioneer DEH 1920 for about £50-£60 which came with my car, so in theory I only spent £160-£170

Brother has the 9887 which is in the process of being installed atm, with the right adaptors the stork controls will work.

I have the 9855r. Its an awesome unit with so many features.
It has Pro Menu's and Easy Menu's.... It is a complicated unit though due to having so many features.
Very good quality though, never had any problems with it.
Ipod connection is fast enough. With full control from stalk controls/head unit: Playlist Search, artist Search etc etc...

saw tis in halfrauds the other week. looks very very good but tbh it was a little bit pricey.

The one downpoint about that unit above is its only for use with an ipod or cd changer. no actual cd slot loader on it. Which is a big of a bugger as I often get people in my car wanting to play CD's. Depends if you want cd playback or not.

I have a 9855R and love it been faultless. Takes a while to get it set up properly with all the crossovers etc but once its setup right it sounds great.

i got a 9855r had it a couple years its been spot on glidetouch is abit s**t but i dont need to use it plug and play simple as really.

that headunit in the pic looks and sounds spot on tho as i never use cds in my car.

edit: id probly flog mine tbh my car has nothing in it and a decat so can never hear anything now so i have no real use for it got the ipod adaptor remote ect so if you fancy it pm me

9855R everytime had mine about 2 years now and its been faultless, never had a problem with it. Brilliant HU with so many options and settings, haven't replaced it because I can't find a headunit I want that has all the EQ and Crossover options of the 9855R.

Was going for an X001 but its got none of the SQ options of the 9855R so that went out the window. The only thing i'd like with it is USB support but i'll manage without.

Decided to give the iDA X001 a mis as its just a controler and has no CD slot, i cant live without my CD's lol

Going for the 9855r can some one tell me what parts i need to order for stalk and display? i have an 2003 172 with the tunerlist HU.

is it better to buy from incartec direct or go to car audio direct?

the alpine adaptor on car audio direct states its for 04 models and onwards? how about the older models? or are the alpine adaptors all the same and its only the steering and stalk adaptor that are model specific?

Yep that alpine adapter doesn't change its only the car specific bit that does.
