alpine H/U buggered, new ideas?

want alpine (no reason, just do) and was thinking alpine xda002/1/3 whats the difference?

currently have the 9855r and loved it, but the screen no longer works properly (kept going on power save and now gets dimmer and dimmer, and no it is not to do with settings :()

thoughts, user reviews and opinions on one to get?

The last 3 aftermarket HU i've had were Alpines.

Again, no idea why, but they are brilliant!

Every Sony/Kenwood etc that I've had has been pap.

If its less then a year old therefore under warranty, free, otherwise id give alpine a ring themselves.

As above. Alpine should be able to guide you in the right direction.
When you say it keeps dimming - are you sure you've checked the wiring they've done?
They could have wired in the Auto Dimmer incorrectly.

no its not setting or wires, it has just gradually faded over time to a very low setting. if it is bright (coupled with having a sunroof) i cant see the screen at all. only look at it at night as that is the only time i can see it :(

thats the thing lad, still want use of the cd player so would have to buy a changer, which seems a bit ott

Ye but, you could pop the cd into your computer and put it on a usb stick or ipod and your sorted, wont need to carry a cd collection.

To get an old Alpine repaired will cost more than what it is worth.

If you can buy one of the Xda's i would definatly recommend you get the x100 rather than the x200 or x300 as the 12 character screen will get royally on your tits!
The new x305's are also just as good now days aswell and from what i know of charge all iPods and have the tft screen.

Imo CDs are shite in cars iPod or other music players are the way forward mate ! ive got couple hundred albums on my iPod update it every now and then with new stuff and plug it in leave it in glove box, fully controlled from the headunit no need to fish for CD !!!

Get an IDA-X305, its our replacement for the X-100 (I work for Alpine).
VERY smart unit.

I've just had a CDE-103BT and some SPG-13CS's installed yesterday and now the car sounds ace :approve:
