i've never used megasquirt, but its running some powerful stuff!

Megasquite is good and cheap and the stuff out there to do it and it as said has been used and has a great helpful base of users.

However its not that advanced.

yes, but i leave electronics to our wiring guy in house, i don't have the paitence for it!

What are you trying to acheive though?

If you wan to convert your carb fed V8 to EFI maybe but a modern engine with advanced engine management as standard?

IMO if you cant afford to do it properly dont bother. You will end up with something worse then what you started with.

I think Ben at Angelworks would recommend the Vems ECU. Looks cheaper then an OMEX.

i'd steer clear of megasquirt my mate has it on his EFI reno 5 and its pretty poor,it was supposed to be self learning to a degree but wasnt self learning at all,the new DTA is very good nick at hillpowerhas used it on about 3 cars lately and rates it highly

We have fitted the pro 8 on a 172 engined Spider which is racing in Tasmania and the new s40 system which we have fitted to variuos conversions inc a Sodemo built group 'a' sprint car which goes very well and came back from an evevt in Ireland on its first outing with fasted overseas cometitor The ststem is not the cheapest but in most cases its worth saving a bit more and getting a product which does what it says on the tin. That said even the very best system will be poor if not installed and set up properly.
