Alternative to wiring up bedroom TV?

  G51 BEN
Okay i'm getting the other half a new TV for her bedroom. She already has a tiny one but never uses it due to the fact that she can't watch anything because the aerial is in the loft and she has no way of connecting it from her bedroom apparently.

Now is there a way that I can connect the new TV I will get her to the aerial in the loft? Like some way to wirelessly connect the TV to the aerial? Also the TV has built in Freeview, but downstairs they have a Virgin package.
Would the bedroom TV be able to access the Virgin package (Movies etc) if connected to the aerial in the loft, or am I saying something ridiculous???

I would just like to know before I get the TV whether I have a simpler option of getting freeview to her TV

I have Sky in the lounge downstairs and additional TVs in the bedroom & kitchen.

In order to get freeview signal to the additional TVs I used a splitter in the roof which allowed me to run cable from the roof-top aerial to the TVs, thus giving them signal. I don't know whether there is any option for doing a similar thing wireless. In my experience using a cable will be better but it would mean drilling a small hole from the loft into your g/f's bedroom in order to route the cable.

What I've also managed to do is route cables from the output of the Sky box in the lounge to the additional TVs, sending them the signal from Sky. This means we can watch Sky on any TV in the house but the Sky box remains in the lounge and if someone changes the channel in the lounge it changes it on all the TVs. Not sure whether a similar option is available for Virgin boxes.

Hope this helps.

im in a similar situation too.

easiest thing do you guys reckon then would be to put an aerial in the loft and run that through the ceiling into the bedroom?

Hmmm I don't think her mum would be best pleased if I started drilling through into the ceiling!!!
Aren't there any products like a wireless signal receiver or something that you can plug into the aerial and into the back of the TV with sort of like a 'Bluetooth' connectivity????

Yes, you can get video senders, they're functional but they're not brilliant. They run on the band band as wifi signals, so you can pick up all sorts of interference on them.

What about a portable aerial just place it on her window sill or high up in her room and fiddle the aerial until the free-view receives a signal more than 60%.

List of random ones:

Easy enough to setup and work great.

Does the virgin box have an RF2 out?

If it does then do the following:

Main aerial to virgin box, RF1 to master TV, RF2 to GF's TV.

Sick a magic eye on the end of the RF2 cable and bingo, you'll be able receive and control virgin and freeview from your GF's TV

^ As Al says above.

Picture showing it here:

I've got a similar set up and have come down the stud wall from above in the loft and have ariel and power leads going into a flat screen on bedroom wall. Nice and tidy.

I know op may not want to drill etc but you can get white ariel cable and run it down the corner of the room (presuming tv is in corner) which looks neat.
