Alternator pulley removal

Has anyone taken one of these off before ?
Is it just a case of holding the pulley in the vice and undo the nut with an airgun?

Dont hold it in a vice without any soft jaws. You will damage the pulley.

is there any other way of locking the shaft?

Wrap the old aux belt round it anf attach that to something that will hold it

done and done
used old belt to protect the pulley in the vice then used an airgun to rattle off the nut
