There are two types of alternator. One is 172/182 cup spec which has lower amps, the other is 110amps (iirc).
So either a 172 or 182 alternator is fine as long as the amps match.

The 172 cup is 75 Amp,I believe.THat`s a 2 year old price from Renault for a 172 cup.If the brackets/pulley are the same,I cannot see the harm in putting 110 Amp on a cup,but not the otherway round
