alternators....

hi ive got a mk1 clio rsi....the other day the battery light came on whilst i was driving which obviously meant not good lol i havent used it since this happened (sunday) as i have my motorbike for work but looked at it today and have tensionned the belt (as a new one was fitted along with cam belt a few weeks ago). ive also checked the volts from the battery which seems to be fine at 12.9v when switched off and 14.1v when running......all the connections are ok too have thought about replacing the alternator but jus thought id ask jus incase ......
......so im confused how come the batteries is still charged/charging but the battery light is still on on the dash after driving it around.........:S

any ideas or solutions much appreciated!!

tighten up all alternator connections....and clean check earths
