Amp keeps cutting out

finished my install the other week and everything is hunky doorey apart from when i have my stereo on really loudly, if a track comes on with alot of bass, my amp powering the sub cuts out -
this has gotta be one of three things, either a dodgy earth, my amp needs turning down or theres a cut out point on my head unit which is making the amp cut out before anything blows?

any suggestions?

sh*t ground!

make sure its straight to the body work and scratch of all paint around bolt where grnd is connected! also make sure ure grnd is short as poss and that the wire is a decent thickness! the standard stuff in the wirin packs is sh*t

u 100% it will be the earth? ive made sure its as short and as thick as possible so the only thing i can think is that its come slightly loose - ive got it running from the amp in the boot to one of the seat belt points under the back seat

you might also want to check gain setting on amp..

just try backing it off a touch and then try it.. increasing the volume increases signal voltage to amp and gain control then boosts signal, you might be badly clipping and the amp is shutting down... difficult to hear distortion caused by clipping in a sub speaker , only way to really check is an oscilloscope as it shows if the signal is squaring off..

easier just to turn your stereo to your usual full volume listening level and back gain off on sub amp.. if it not enough bass then buy another woofer

alright bud... i suddenly got exactly the same problem... thought it was one of the many wires running from the amp arcing/shorting/grounding... started with disconecting EVERYTHING BUT the earth, remote, and power.. put in a new fuse.. started up... pop.... still did it!.. totally disconnected amp and tried an old amp i have at home. started up car head unit.... walked round back of car... green light on.. stayed on... all fine... my problem is my amp :(.. going in for repair tomorrow... fcuk it! :(
